Our new member from Newcastle upon Tyne, UNW LLP, has issued a press release to promote its recent acceptance as a member of BKR International.
Our region’s Executive Director, Stephen Hamlet(London), visited the offices of UNW and gave presentations on BKR International to partners and managers of the firm. UNW believed it vital to promote its membership both internally and externally.
The Press Release:
UNW DELIVER GLOBAL OPPORTUNITY
Based at offices in Newcastle’s Citygate, UNW has announced its affiliation with BKR International, a leading global association of independent accounting and business advisory firms.
As one of the top 10 global accounting associations, BKR International members have access to the resources of an international firm, while delivering locally the personal attention and services that all clients expect and deserve.
A delighted Michael Morris, audit and assurance partner at UNW, who has been instrumental in leading the discussions with BKR International, believes it is a tremendous opportunity for UNW, providing superb international resources for its client base and opening up new avenues for referral work. He says:
“BKR International member firms operate with very high quality control standards and to be admitted to the association, we have had to gain approval from both its European and global boards in a process geared to ensuring that our internal systems and administration are first rate. A significant amount of time has been invested in researching the leading global associations and BKR International is the perfect fit for us.
“We expect our affiliation with BKR to open up a new chapter in our growth as well as providing a robust platform from which our clients can grow their business interests. Whilst I expect all service lines to benefit from our membership, it is likely that our specialist VAT, employment taxes, corporate finance and grants teams could particularly benefit from inbound referral work. BKR’s three other affiliate UK firms are based in London, Manchester and Belfast.
“As an established firm dedicated to delivering high service standards for our clients, we can now help clients take advantage of global opportunities and achieve their plans in virtually any industry anywhere in the world thanks to BKR’s global infrastructure which offers more than 1,400 partners and almost 9,000 professional staff.”
UNW’s managing partner, Andrew Wilson, added: “We are delighted to be joining BKR International and whilst we are committed to retaining the benefits of being independent, most businesses now have a global outlook and having international reach is critical. In the past, we have regularly helped clients realise international opportunities so joining an international association was an obvious route for us to take. Investing in further growth from our NE base whilst having full access to a comprehensive international network will deliver real benefits to our clients.”
Stephen Hamlet, Executive Director of BKR International (Europe, Middle East and Africa) said: “We welcome UNW into our association. BKR prides itself on having top quality firms with international outlook and expansive ambition. We intentionally limit the number of firms in particular countries and jurisdictions, since we seek quality and specialist expertise rather than simply looking to increase our membership numbers.
“In the UK, we are particularly fortunate to be represented by such top quality firms and what impressed me personally, when approached by UNW, was the firm’s continuous ambition, unique specialisms and on-going plans for future development, having already achieved significant growth in recent years. I see UNW as a key member for BKR International, enhancing our representation in the UK.”
UNW, which is led by 11 partners, has experienced strong growth over the last three years. During this time almost 30 staff have been appointed bringing the total number employed at its Citygate offices to over 80. The firm offers specialist expertise in Audit & Assurance, Corporate Finance, Taxation Services (including Employment Taxes and VAT) and Accounting Services.
