BKR members, Euroglobal SEE Audit Limited and Yarel & Partners, joined their efforts in Tel Aviv and co-organised a seminar introducing “Doing business in Cyprus and the Balkans”, on Monday 25th January, 2010, at the Dan Panorama Hotel.
The event was attended by over 80 participants from audit firms, law firms and financial institutions from both Israel and Cyprus, as well as businessmen and women from the local community.
After the opening speeches by Mr. Shimon Yarel and Mr. Angelos Theodorou welcoming the participants, Mr. Hasan Berkut, from Euroglobal, provided an overview of Cyprus from a tax and legal perspective, emphasising amongst others the current European directives in force. He then focused on doing business in South Eastern Europe and in particular Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Montenegro, explaining the advantages and strategies for effective international tax planning and restructuring of investments in the Region.
This was followed by the presentation of Dr. Ayal Shenhav, a guest speaker from Shenhav & Co. Law Offices, which focused on Israeli tax aspects, demonstrating, through several case studies, the advantages and alternatives available of doing business in the Middle East and South Eastern Europe.
The event continued with a cocktail reception where, while enjoying a delicious buffet and drinks, the participants had the opportunity to network and discuss with the speakers the various topics presented during the seminar.
