The event took place on Friday, 20 September in Nice, France. BKR would like to thank our French network, EURUS, for organising and subsidising the costs for the venue and lunch for the meeting.
14 delegates, from 8 separate firms, attended the meeting, representing Austria, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland.
On a hot summer’s day in Nice (quite a contrast to those who had travelled from countries where Summer had come and gone!), the group met at a beautiful venue with magnificent views of the clear blue sky and the crystal waters of the Mediterranean sea.
After a welcoming introduction from our host, Julien Pazzaglia(Nice), who provided a very interesting summary of his city, round-table discussions commenced, covering events over the past 12 months. Each firm presented a view on their country’s economy and especially the problems encountered during the recent financial crisis and how this had affected their firm, including current developments within their practices. This resulted in a much appreciated interactive session.
The group broke for a wonderful ‘al fresco’ lunch on the terrace, allowing delegates to appreciate the amazing views of the Côte d’Azur.
Stephen Hamlet (London), the region’s Executive Director, led the afternoon session on “How to generate business between member firms/Working together within BKR”. A number of ideas and initiatives were discussed, providing opportunities to consider and pursue for future development.
BKR invited all delegates to dinner in the evening, where the food and wine was exquisite and, being able to dine outside amongst the lively ‘buzz’ of a city still very much enjoying its Summer, was a fitting end to a most beneficial and successful day.
