Stephen Hamlet LLB (Hons) ACA
Stephen Hamlet was recruited in the final quarter of 2009 from BKR’s UK member firm, Blick Rothenberg, where he was responsible for developing “Fluency”, a centralised accounting and financial administration solution for companies expanding beyond their home territory. He successfully launched this new initiative, working as a Senior Manager for Blick Rothenberg’s outsourced accounting services company, BRAL Limited, and completed selection of partner firms and implementation for the initial phase, incorporating 6 core countries across Europe, then expanding Fluency beyond Europe into other countries, including Australia. Stephen was additionally responsible for developing a fully integrated multi-lingual accounting portal in use by each provider, overseeing the success of IT integration in all locations.
Stephen has over twelve years' experience in professional services, including six years in business development. He graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in Law and pursued a career in accountancy, training with a top 20 firm in London. In December 2000, Stephen became an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
After spending his initial years in the audit department, Stephen was selected to join an associated company producing an accounting solution for convenience retailers. Stephen managed the consolidation of 50 sites using this service in Ireland for an international oil company. Re-developed as an internet-based application, Stephen was responsible for rolling out this accounting solution to Europe, working with local tax advisers in each of the countries. He acted as Financial Controller for the company, Client Services Manager responsible for quality assurance, Legal Assistant for the negotiation and formation of licence agreements and designed a number of management reports for client head office.
As BKR International’s full time Executive Director for EMEA, Stephen now assumes responsibility for developing BKR throughout the region, including playing an active role in recruiting new members, enhancing member services and in seeking to facilitate and encourage cross-border cooperation and service offerings.
Stephen is passionate about music, travelling and keeping fit, in addition to spending time with his young family.
